The Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Aliens (SAIME) documented more than 600 people from indigenous communities in Esequiba Guiana, as part of the Indigenous Route, activated on August 29.
The conference was held in nine sectors, including Kavanayén, Campo Alegre, Vista Alegre de Kama, Campo Alegre de Kukenan, San Ignacio and Paraitepuy de Roraima. In these sectors, the procedures for verifying data, renewing documents and identity cards were carried out for the first time.
Governor Neil Villamizar stressed that this initiative allows the legal recognition of indigenous communities, facilitating the exercise of their rights.
The operation plans to serve more than two thousand indigenous people, while respecting the constitutional principle of identity for the entire population.
