The president of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, reiterated this Wednesday afternoon, September 25, that his country will not recognize Edmundo González as
president of Venezuela so as not to break European unity.
Sánchez reiterated his statement on “the need for Venezuela to make public the minutes of the elections”, as he has stated on previous occasions. He added that “he believes that it is essential that there be an international verification of electoral records and, faced with the question of how he will act if that does not happen, he has urged us to go step by step”.
“Then we'll see, but what's important is that on the part of the Government we are not going to break European unity,” he said.
Sánchez's words about Venezuela were offered at the press conference he gave in New York on the occasion of his participation in the UN High Level Week, according to international agencies.
