Science Olympiad culminated with awards to winning students

The first Venezuelan Youth Science Olympiad culminated this Wednesday with the award of the winning teams, at an event held at the Venezuelan School of Planning, in Caracas.

The participants developed an experimental test and two theoretical-practical tests, whose generating theme was Plumages and songs: exploring the world of birds. The prizes include trips to spaces for the promotion of science, tablets, books and special attention to their high schools.

According to a press release from the social and territorial vice-presidency, the first place went to three educational institutions: the Liceo Fermín Luis Valero (Táchira), the Manuelita Saenz National Educational Unit (UEN) (Aragua) and the UEN Nueva Toledo (Sucre).

Institutions from five states took second place: Miranda, Aragua, Nueva Esparta, Táchira, Barinas and the Capital District; while the third place was occupied by nine high schools from the entities Portuguesa, Mérida, Cojedes, Barinas, Guárico, La Guaira (two institutions), Bolívar and Zulia.

The Minister for Education, Héctor Rodríguez, who led the award, congratulated the participants and pointed out that all young people and teachers are called to carry out a profound science revolution throughout the Venezuelan education system.

“I call on all Venezuelan society and the brightest minds in Venezuelan society, of whom we have and are many, to push together and together a profound revolution of science in Venezuelan education,” he ratified.

In this first Venezuelan Youth Science Olympiad, 50 high school teams from all over the country participated.
