This Wednesday, the Permanent Commission for Integral Social Development responded to complaints from the workers of Empresas Polar.

Through the National Union of Polar Companies, workers reported that this entity denies the reengagement of those dismissed in 2016, despite the decisions issued by the corresponding judicial bodies.

This was reported by the deputy Diva Guzmán (PSUV/Nacional) during the regular meeting of the commission, where she explained that the National Assembly will accompany and attend to the case presented by the president of the aforementioned union, Frank Quijada, since more than 300 workers are being harmed.

He explained that this labor dispute has been going on for more than nine years at the headquarters of Los Cortijos, the capital city. He stressed that, according to the statement made by the trade unionist, the owner of the company, Lorenzo Mendoza, is allegedly violating the law, for not restoring the labor rights of those affected, claiming that this plant has no production.

A State within a State

In his speech, Frank Quijada reported that Lorenzo Mendoza fired more than 12,000 fathers and mothers 9 years ago.

“He believes he has a State within a State, for not complying with the decisions of the Labor Inspectorate, Labor Courts and the Supreme Court of Justice.”

He said that, of the 12,000 workers left 326, “Mendoza has blocked us, with sanctions; the fight for not having a salary or food has been very tough.”

This situation, Quijada said, is affecting the families of these workers, who, in some cases, have died and others are sick, so he asked for prompt justice.

“For there to be peace, there must be justice. We demand that the workers' state make Chávez's dreams come true: a just homeland. Lorenzo Mendoza must comply with the law,” he concluded.
