Various social, political and cultural sectors in the Republic of Congo expressed their support for Venezuela, through a statement condemning the war threats promoted by the United States and its allies.
The document was signed by young people, women, artists, social movements and party organizations, who ratified their commitment to the defense of peace in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the website of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs (MPPRE).
The statement included the support of prominent figures such as the Cuban ambassador, Indira Nápoles Coello; the Cuban Medical Brigade in the Congo; and the filmmaker Sébastien Kamba, among others. Everyone conveyed their solidarity to the Venezuelan diplomatic mission.
The signatories expressed their rejection of the threats against peace in Venezuela and the region, stressing that they accompanied the Bolivarian People and Government in the defense of their sovereignty and freedom, while calling for them to join the Venezuelan cause.
During a press conference held in Brazzaville, the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Congo, Laura Evangelia Suárez, denounced the U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean, noting that this type of maneuver seeks to justify armed intervention and appropriate Venezuela's natural resources.
He also highlighted national advances in the fight against drug trafficking, and denied accusations promoted by international spokespersons.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, specifically in Kinshasa, the Anti-Fascist International held a day of collecting signatures in solidarity with Venezuela and in defense of peace in Latin America and the Caribbean.
In this regard, political organizations such as the Congolese Communist Party (PCCO) and the Union of Socialist Democrats (UDS) reiterated their strong support for the Venezuelan People and Government and condemned the actions perpetrated by the United States, stating: “Venezuela is not a threat, it is resistance.”
In this context, Suárez held meetings with the Minister of Communication and Media, Thierry Moungalla; the Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry, Guy Nestor Itoua; the Minister of Industry, Mining and Geology, Pierre Oba; the mayor of Brazzaville, Dieudonné Bantsimba and Jean-Michel Shanga, a member of the Congolese Labor Party.
