The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, together with representatives of the State Powers, provided an assessment of the application of the Law of Amnesty and Democratic Coexistence, a legal instrument enacted on February 19, 2026, in order to consolidate reconciliation and social peace in the country.
In this regard, it is important to highlight that the Amnesty and Democratic Coexistence Act seeks to promote peace, create conditions for plural political participation and promote the civil reintegration of those prosecuted or convicted for political reasons.
In context, the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, reported in previous days that 300 additional people are expected to be gradually released from prison by mid-May, based on criteria of age, health or humanitarian reasons. Among the sectors included in these gradual measures are agents of the extinct Metropolitan Police and detainees linked to the oil sector.
This meeting was attended by State authorities, as well as the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez; the Attorney General of the Republic, Larry Devoe; the ombudsman, Egleé González; and the president of the Special Commission for the Monitoring of the Amnesty Law, Jorge Arreaza.
It is worth noting that, with the implementation of this legal framework, the institutions of the Venezuelan State reaffirm their commitment to recompose the social fabric and guarantee the political stability of the Nation.
