Steffany Castillo wins first gold for Venezuela in Youth Boxing Cup America

Venezuelan Steffany Castillo awarded him the first gold medal for the country, in the 51-kilogram category, in the Copa América for Youth and Adult Boxing, which is being held in Ibagué, Colombia.
The Venezuelan woman beat Aylin Sigala, from Mexico, and Yeily Campero, from Colombia, by RSC (referee suspends combat).
Castillo lost by unanimous decision (5-0) to fellow Colombian Danna Damary Pérez, but her two previous victories secured her the gold medal with a record of two wins and one loss.
The Venezuelan team also won a silver medal thanks to Edmar Muñoz (57 kg), who clearly beat Africa Mejía (Mexico) and closed his participation with two victories and one loss.
In the 70 kg, Félix Coa won by split decision against Colombian Darwin Sánchez and secured the bronze medal. For his part, Kelvin Betancourt advanced to the semifinals after beating Mexico's Ezequiel Romero by a split decision (3-2).
The team has options to expand the medal table in the coming days. The award ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, July 20.
