The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) declared the organic nature of the “Simon Bolivar Liberation Law against the Imperialist Blockade and in Defense of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela” to be valid.
The Decision of the Supreme Court is protected by article 203 of the Constitution of the Republic, so after reviewing the judges: Tania D'Amelio, Lourdes Suárez Anderson, Luis Fernando Damiani Bustillos, Michel Adriana Velásquez and Janette Córdova Castro concluded that it is appropriate to the fundamental and more substantive aspects of the principles contained in the Constitution of 1999, since it has been maintained that democratic institutions, the sovereignty and independence of Venezuela, have their based on the Constitutional Text, “which constitutes a legal manifestation of a social agreement, in which concepts and categories specific to our tradition, culture and history were embodied, for the sake of defending the Homeland, safeguarding and protecting the sovereignty, territorial integrity and self-determination and interests of the Nation”.
The Constitutional Chamber highlighted as a relevant aspect that the Law submitted to its study has its origin in “unilateral coercive sanctions and other illegitimate and illegal restrictive or punitive measures imposed against the Republic, which violate the most elementary axioms of Law and International Justice, without taking into account that law and justice are elementary presuppositions of peace and international well-being”.
