Last Sunday, there was a new escalation of armed violence in the city of Suwayda, located in southwestern Syria, in which more than thirty people were killed and more than a hundred were injured, as reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Government of Hayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS).

After the bloody clashes between factions of the so-called armed Bedouins and Druze soldiers in the neighborhood of al-Maqous, Al Mayadeen explained.

The region is home to a large part of Syria's Druze population, which experienced violent days in the months of April and May due to fighting between the security forces of the current regime that governs the terrorist Ahmed Al-Sharaa and Druze fighters.

Local sources reported that the fighting took place with medium-range weapons. These caused the closure of the road that connects Suwayda to Damascus, while the Ministry of Education of the Government of HTS announced the postponement of the secondary certificate exams in the Governorate, scheduled for this Monday.

Numerous civilians were arrested by Bedouin fighters in the al-Maqous neighborhood, and released in the early hours of Monday, after the mediation of Sheikh Youssef Jarboua and other minority cult authorities, in what was a first sign of an easing of tensions, according to the Suwayda 24 channel.
