Táchira, UCV, Puerto Cabello and Carabobo tied for first place in the FUTVE League Apertura

Between Friday, February 23 and Sunday, February 25, the seven matches corresponding to date 4 of the Opening of the 2024 season tournament of the Venezuelan Football League (FUTVE League) were played, where Carabobo FC and Inter de Barinas were the only ones who managed to score 3 points.

Portuguesa FC and Deportivo Táchira equaled 1-1 at the Brígida Iriarte stadium in Caracas, with a goal scored by Yanniel Hernández in the 35th minute for the tabby and Richard Blanco for the Rojinegros in 90+6′ penalty.

That was the result of the match between UCV FC and Monagas SC, a match played at the Olympic stadium in the capital city. For the visit, Tomás Rodríguez scored 54′ penalty and for the locals Yeiber Murillo scored 90+4′.

Deportivo La Guaira and Academia Puerto Cabello also equalized but scoreless at the Olympic Stadium in Caracas. While Estudiantes de Mérida and Caracas FC, tied 1-1, in the Metropolitan State of the Andean region, with a goal from Rubert Quijada at 78′ for the Red Devils and Tomás Prieto at 90+1′ for the locals.

At the Agustín Tovar “La Carolina” Olympic Stadium, Zamora FC and Rayo Zuliano also tied for the minimum 1-1. Hermes Rodríguez at 74′ and Ángel Fanía at 11′, were responsible for scoring, by the visitor and by locals, respectively.

For its part, Carabobo FC defeated Angostura FC 2-1 at the Misael Delgado stadium in Valencia. Juan Francisco Apaolaza at 45+1′ and Franner López at 90+1′ scored the winning goal. While Ronny Maza at 80′ penalty kick scored the discount

The day culminated with the victory of Inter de Barinas 2-1 over Metropolitanos, at the Olympic stadium in the capital city. The winning goals were scored by Juan Camilo Zapata, who completed a double at 6′ and 50′ and Robert Garcés took the 70′ penalty.

This result leaves four teams tied for first place in the standings, Deportivo Táchira, UCV, Academia Puerto Cabello and Carabobo with 8 points each.
