The ALBA-TCP highlights Commander Fidel Castro's example of struggle 98 years after his birth

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America — Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) commemorates the 98th anniversary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
In a statement, the ALBA-TCP highlighted Castro Ruz's example of anti-imperialist struggle in defense of the sovereignty of his people.
“The Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution succeeded in impacting all of humanity with his work and thought, placing human beings and their social rights as an exclusive priority, over the interests of the elites and governing corporations, to life over war and to solidarity over the petty ambitions of the powerful,” says part of the statement.
He stressed that the Cuban leader represents for the world an example of resistance against the North American empire.

The Latin American and Caribbean nations of the ALBA-TCP recall with deep admiration the luminous life of a man who proved to be an example of courage and strength, bringing to fruition such a powerful cause that he became a beacon and reference for peoples in their processes of struggle and liberation from capitalist oppression and the expansionist and devouring pretensions of imperialism in the 20th century.
The Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution succeeded in impacting all of humanity with his work and thought, placing the human being and his social rights as an exclusive priority, over the interests of the elites and governing corporations, life over war and solidarity over the petty ambitions of the powerful.
The Bolivarian Alliance is proud to be the heroic creation of Commander Hugo Chávez Frías and Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz; who synthesized the purest of their immortal legacies, with self-determination, cooperation, brotherhood and solidarity among the free peoples of Our America, so that together they may march towards human development and the greatest sum of happiness.
