Two large scale industrial incinerators for the treatment of hospital waste were activated this week at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, in the state of La Guaira.

The installation was possible thanks to the joint collaboration of the Ministry for Health and the private company Inyectoflama, the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN) reported, citing a press release.

The director of Environmental Health of the ministerial portfolio, Luis González, indicated that this is how the State's biosafety policies are complied with, following the earthquakes of last June 24.

He indicated that in the incinerators there will be a safe destruction of materials categorized in types A, B and C, thus guaranteeing an environment free of health risks in the region, with epidemiological control when viruses and bacteria are eliminated.

These two incinerators have a total capacity to destroy 4.6 metric tons of waste per day.
