The sky of western Caracas was transformed last Saturday, March 28, into a vibrant canvas during the successful celebration of the 5th Parrot Festival, a day that overflowed tradition and joy in the spaces of Alí Primera Park.
According to information from the Ministry for Culture, more than 1000 children and adolescents enjoyed this intergenerational meeting space where wind and creativity were the main protagonists of the sunset in Sucre parish.
The activity organized by the Government of Caracas and the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, through the Cultural Mission, guaranteed logistics that allowed the full enjoyment of the community, especially highlighting the participation of 50 groups of Bolivarian Colmenitas from various parishes in the capital. These little great artists not only raised their kites, but they also infected every corner of the park with their energy and discipline, demonstrating the strength of the city's cultural hotbed.
The festive atmosphere was marked by the rhythm of the parades and the allegories, which came to life thanks to the scenic display of Musical Salad and the Tanteo Group, who turned the roads into a stage of constant movement. The soundtrack of the afternoon was equally diverse and exciting, with the RTF Ensamble performances, the powerful voice of Greily Figueredo and the constructive lyrics of Rap Sin Rude, achieving a musical atmosphere that made those present dance while the parrots danced in the heights.
The formation and rescue of the Venezuelan affirmative had their place in a series of workshops that kept young people focused and enthusiastic. With the help of leading experts, the participants explored the art of macramé with Dana Navas and the making of traditional wristbands with Lérida Ortega. In addition, inventiveness was present with Sara Escalona's “Crazy Lenses”, while Alfredo Escalona shared the technical secrets to master the perinola.
At the close of the day, the balance was that of a Caracas that is recognized in its roots, successfully celebrating an activity that reaffirms the commitment to continue building peace through our traditions.
