This Wednesday, December 4, the electoral campaign began for those running to be communal justices of the peace to present their proposals to the voters for the election on December 15, said Jorge Rodríguez, a member of the electoral commission for these votes.
During a press conference held this Monday, Rodríguez explained that for a total of 52,288 Venezuelans they proposed their names to be taken into account to be elected as communal justices of the peace.
“Today the campaign of all these candidates kicks off. The constitution says, in a beautiful way, that they must be elected by the universal, secret and direct vote of the inhabitants of the communal circuits,” he said while stressing that all Venezuelans over 15 years of age will be able to vote in those elections.
He also explained that voters can go to their voting centers that are closest to the communal circuit. “They show up, they receive the ballot from the electoral commission and from the names nominated you can choose up to three people to be communal justices of the peace. That way we will choose more than 15,000 judges,” he explained.
In the same way, he stressed that the electoral campaign that begins this Wednesday is different because it must be done constructively because “the work of the justices of the peace is conciliatory and we hope that they will become a factor of peace and harmony in neighborhoods.”
