The Ombudsman's Office monitored the situation of the affected families and toured, together with local authorities and rescue teams, the areas most affected by the earthquake, where it verified damage and immediate needs.
The information collected by the teams is processed through a national monitoring system that makes it possible to identify risks and guide recommendations to the authorities to ensure the protection of human rights during the emergency and recovery.
The institution reiterated its commitment to accompany victims in all phases of this contingency and to contribute, from its constitutional powers, to the recovery process moving forward with respect for human dignity.
