The Workers' Party of Brazil issued a statement repudiating U.S. military maneuvers in the Caribbean and threats against Venezuela's sovereignty and peace.

In the text signed by the senator and national secretary of International Relations of the PT, Humberto Costa, it is emphasized that our region wants to continue to be an example for the world of peaceful coexistence and cooperation.

Below is the full text of the statement:

We do not accept threats or violent acts against Venezuela.

The Secretariat of International Relations of the Workers' Party is following with concern the recent events in the South Caribbean Sea, especially the threats against Venezuela.

We reaffirm our firm support for the permanent defense of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and self-determination of peoples, fundamental principles that guide Brazilian foreign policy and the action of the Workers' Party.

The Workers' Party values the deep historical, cultural and human ties that unite Brazil with the Venezuelan people, as well as with all sister countries in South America. Our region seeks to be an example for the world of peaceful coexistence and cooperation, based on respectful dialogue, as enshrined in international law and the Charter of the United Nations. We don't need authoritarian interventions, outside the continent, to overcome our challenges.

At this time, it is imperative that serenity and commitment to peaceful solutions to the problems faced by the countries of the continent prevail. Once again, we reaffirm our position: threats and violent acts disrespect our tradition of dialogue and the construction of peaceful solutions to South American problems.

The Workers' Party expresses its full support for the continued action of the Government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which proudly and responsibly works through diplomatic channels and multilateral organizations to promote peace, understanding and cooperation in our region and in the world.

Brasilia, August 30, 2025.

SENATOR HUMBERTO COSTA

Secretary of International Relations
