In a demonstration of high operational capacity and institutional cohesion, the Bolivarian Government successfully carried out the international tsunami simulation exercise “Caribe Wave 2026", on a day that mobilized more than 8,000 officials and tested the capacity of the Venezuelan people to respond to natural threats.

The event was led by the Deputy Minister for Risk Management and Civil Protection and Disaster Management, Juan Carlos Oti Paituvi, who from the headquarters of the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (FUNVISIS) supervised this great national deployment minute by minute.

This exercise was based on the hypothesis of an eruption of the Kick 'em Jenny submarine volcano, located north of the island of Granada, whose location approximately 100 miles off the Venezuelan coast posed a critical scenario of immediate response for State security and prevention bodies.

The activity made it possible to evaluate with scientific and operational precision how the State reacts to an event of this magnitude, focusing mainly on protocols for action and evacuation of personnel to safe points, through the application of specialized self-protection mechanisms.

The operation resulted in the execution of more than 780 simultaneous activities throughout the national territory, ranging from the eviction of schools and port authorities to the activation of FUNVISIS analysts, who processed the impact footprint in real time, in order to guide decisions in the field.

The day not only involved coastal states, but also integrated entities in the interior of the country through earthquake simulations, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the National Risk Management System.
