Three PNB sentenced to 30 years in prison for trafficking 111 kg of marijuana

Three former officers of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) were sentenced to 30 years in prison for trafficking 111 kilos of marijuana in Punto Fijo, Falcón state.

According to a press release from the Public Ministry, the stash was seized on December 5, 2020 after a telephone complaint, in which a van with drug pots was reported in the parking lot of a hotel in the Judibana parish of Punto Fijo.

GNB officials received a complaint and went to the site, and when carrying out the vehicle search, they found three bags containing marijuana pots inside. One of them with 36 pans; another with 35 pans and the last with 40 marijuana pans; whose net weight is 111 kilos.

In addition, during the inspection of the van, identification documents, credentials of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) were found, as well as invoices in the name of Primera Elías, Ruiz Chirinos and Leal Olivera.

As a result, the officials moved to one of the hotel rooms where the three officers were staying. By virtue of the findings, they were apprehended in flagrante delicto to be left at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

During the trial, the 13th Public Prosecutor's Office of Falcón upheld the accusation against the three officials for the commission of aggravated illicit trafficking in narcotic and psychotropic substances in the form of concealment and greater amounts.

Once the fiscal representation evacuated the evidence concerning the case, the 1st Trial Court of that jurisdiction handed down the above-mentioned conviction and ordered the detention of the three officers at the headquarters of the PNB in Falcón state.
