It was May 18, 1781, when they tried to silence the noise of the original Latin American peoples, assassinating one of the most important indigenous leaders in history: Túpac Amaru II, who led the greatest revolution of the original peoples in America, one of the first signs of emancipation, which occurred on November 4, 1780 in Tungasuca, Peruvian department of Cuzco.
Born on March 19, 1738, in the Suriman mountain of Peru, with the name José Gabriel Condorcanqui Noguera, Túpac Amaru spread his emancipatory movement to 24 provinces of the South American nation, after which 100,000 indigenous people died who fought with great strength, and 1,200 men of the realist army were defeated in Sangarará.
Although during their revolution he was captured, forced to witness the torture and murder of his allies, friends, children and wife; and, finally, brutally murdered that fateful day, they could not give up their strength or the power of their legacy.
After being subjected to an attempt to dismember him by tying him to horses, Túpac Amaru II raised his voice and assured those present: “I will return and be millions!” , before being beheaded after the failed attempts to kill him.
At present, several political parties and movements in America have dedicated their name to the revolutionary Inca, due to his patriotic, sovereign, rebellious and courageous character. From the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement in Venezuela, to the Túpac Amaru Neighborhood Organization in Argentina, they keep their ideas alive.
