Türkiye applied to join the BRICS

Türkiye applied to join the BRICS to reinforce its global influence and forge new ties beyond its traditional Western allies, according to information from Bloomberg.

The vision of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Administration is that “the geopolitical center of gravity is shifting away from developed economies”.

He also explained that Türkiye's request was sent months ago due to the lack of progress in the country's accession to the European Union (EU).

Russia Today (RT) indicated that interest in the BRICS is the result of Ankara's disagreements with several North Atlantic Organization (NATO) countries following its close relationship with the Russian Federation after the start of the conflict in Ukraine.
