According to figures from the office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), economic growth of 5.8% is expected in Venezuela during 2025, despite the economic blockade and the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States (USA).

In a report released this Thursday, the team of experts from UNDP Venezuela highlighted that the economy of the Bolivarian nation “is showing signs of growth, mainly thanks to the momentum of the oil sector and the good performance of” other sectors, as well as the policies of the Executive, led by President Nicolás Maduro.

The study states that, in the first half of 2025, the average oil production was 1,048,000 barrels per day (bd), which represents the “best result since the same period in 2019”, and forecasts that the sector will grow by 13% this year, after “the individual license granted to (the North American oil company) Chevron, which greatly reduces uncertainty about its operations in Venezuela”. Meanwhile, non-oil activity rose 3.4% .

According to the report, although the Chevron license “generates positive expectations, predicting a possible increase in the flow of foreign exchange that could slow down the depreciation of the exchange rate”, these forecasts “ have partially dissipated” in the face of Washington's militaristic threats to Caracas, aggravated by the deployment of U.S. warships in the Caribbean.

The Bolivarian Government reported in August that the country registered economic growth of 7.71% in the first semester, and announced the renewal of the state of emergency decree signed last April by President Maduro, as an economic offensive in the framework of the trade war against the country.
