This Tuesday, the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, declared that “the Palestinian State is a right and not a reward”, during a high-level conference organized by France and Saudi Arabia.

Guterres urged the international community to move forward on that path as the only possible way to achieve a just and lasting peace. He stated that the words lost weight in the face of the reality of occupation, violence and annexation.

He also indicated that the alternative of a single State where Palestinians live under permanent occupation, without equal rights, “is not peace, nor justice, nor is it allowed by international law”, so he called for urgent and tangible measures to put an end to aggressions, settlements, forced displacement, all forms of ethnic cleansing and accountability for war crimes.

In addition, he regretted that the people of Gaza are experiencing a catastrophe with a population stalked by hunger, attacks and destruction, while the world watches... In this regard, he demanded an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the unconditional release of all hostages, and full and unrestricted humanitarian access.
