The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has requested the sending of essential aid to Gaza following the announcement of a truce in the region.
Rosalía Bollen, communications spokeswoman for Palestine, emphasized that the arrival of resources remains a priority to address the shortage in the enclave.
In an interview with the Al Jazeera channel, Bollen noted that, after two years of armed conflict and severe restrictions, seeking external support is crucial. “Every resource, every product that can be imported, can make the difference between life and death for many,” he said.
The representative reported that UNICEF has registered a significant increase in malnutrition in children under five years of age. He emphasized that these cases require medical attention, dietary supplements and household products, without the possibility of referral.
In this regard, he reiterated that allowing humanitarian access will be crucial to preserve lives in Gaza. “Our organization is ready to mobilize more than 1,300 vehicles with supplies as soon as entry is authorized,” he said.
