US lifts strategic sanctions against the Belarusian Ministry of Finance and key entities

The Department of the Treasury of the United States (USA) announced a significant modification to its sanctions regime, lifting restrictions on the Ministry of Finance of Belarus, the potash producer Belaruskali and various financial institutions in the country.
The decision was made official through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). According to the agency, the measure responds to an update of security and foreign policy criteria, stating that:
“The circumstances no longer justify the maintenance of the restrictions originally imposed against the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Belarus,” details the Department of the Treasury.
With this announcement, the sanctions that limited the operation of that ministry are officially rescinded.
As part of this restructuring, the Treasury also issued General License 14. This legal instrument is essential, since it once again authorizes the carrying out of commercial and financial transactions with key institutions
