Valencia's Arturo Michelena International Airport has a mobility of between 2,500 and 4,300 daily passengers, in a period marked by a sustained increase in its operating flow.

This is due to the fact that the terminal assumed contingency functions after the temporary suspension of operations at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, following the earthquakes of June 24, which consolidated Valencia as the country's main connection point, according to a press release from Radio Nacional de Venezuela (RNV).

The president of the Autonomous Airport Institute of Carabobo State, Efraín Nieto, indicated that, in the face of this scenario, airport security was reinforced through the expansion of anti-drug equipment, the increase of migration control personnel and the strengthening of ground operators and maintenance crews, in order to ensure operational continuity.

Nieto noted that, in order to speed up waiting times and improve passenger traffic, roofed areas were set up as an extension of the check-in space, allowing the flow of entry and departure of passengers to be ordered.

In the context of the contingency, the airport has also served as a reception point for international delegations of rescuers from Spain, Israel, Jordan, El Salvador, Panama, Mexico and Qatar, who arrived in the country to support emergency efforts.

Currently, the terminal maintains active international connectivity through routes that link Valencia with Bogotá, Panama, Madrid, Tenerife and Havana, in addition to other operations that are still under development.
