The Ministry of People's Power for Hydrocarbons activated immediate attention channels to report possible damage to gas distribution systems. The institution made available to all citizens the toll-free telephone line 0-800-GASEMER (0-800-427-36-37), as well as the VenApp platform, with the objective of receiving reports in real time and coordinating relevant inspections in a secure manner.

This measure comes after two simultaneous earthquakes occurred on June 24, so the authorities called for calm. The official statement “urges the population to remain calm and request a damage assessment” in the face of any anomaly. Citizens should be alert “to the presence of a smell of gas, whistles in pipes or suspicion of damage to systems”.

The security protocol states that, if you suspect a leak in your home or community, you must “vacate the area: leave the structure with your family group and pets”. It is vitally important to move immediately to an open and safe area, away from the reach of the gas, to significantly reduce the risks associated with inhalation or major accidents.
