In the framework of the Fourteenth Ministerial Conference (MC14) of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Venezuelan delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Johann Álvarez Márquez, and the Deputy Minister of International Trade Policy, Andreína Tarazón, reaffirmed the country's position in defense of inclusive global trade.
During his speech at the highest decision-making body of the WTO, Minister Álvarez Márquez emphasized the urgency of updating the rules of the global game.
“Our participation responds to the need to reform the multilateral trading system under principles of transparency. Venezuela reaffirms its commitment to consensus as the only mechanism capable of guaranteeing the inclusion of all nations,” said the holder of the portfolio.
Regarding the defense of economic sovereignty or not, one of the central points of the Venezuelan agenda was the condemnation of Unilateral Coercive Measures.
The minister stressed that these sanctions not only affect the national economy, but they undermine the foundations of the multilateral system. This position aligns with the strategy of economic promotion led by Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, aimed at inserting Venezuela into global markets under conditions of equity.
