Venezuela and Cuba deepen cooperation to control diseases such as dengue and chikungunya

Venezuela and Cuba are strengthening scientific alliance for the control of vector-borne diseases, in order to jointly address dengue, chikungunya, yellow fever and malaria.
This was reported by the sectoral vice-president of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, after a meeting with the Cuban ambassador, Jorge Luis Mayo Fernández, to discuss bilateral cooperation in the field of health.
During the meeting, Venezuela presented the advances of the National Science and Technology Plan for Integrated Vector Control.
“This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Popular Power for Health and the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), prioritizes epidemiological surveillance and the use of sustainable methods to reduce the populations of transmitting mosquitoes in our communities,” said the sector vice-president.
He also stated that during the meeting, the will to unify efforts with the common objective of social welfare was reiterated to the Cuban delegation.
