The Board of Directors of Specialized Gardens in the Governorate of Cairo and the Venezuelan Embassy agree on a joint agenda for the period 2026-2027 that includes gastronomic and musical exchanges and the maintenance of historic monuments.
Both institutions have established a strategic alliance to promote bilateral cooperation through the Egyptian capital's network of parks and gardens, whose primary purpose is to strengthen ties between the two nations through the development of cultural, artistic and social projects with a public impact.
The commitment was consolidated after a working meeting between G/D Yasser Asaad, president of the Management Council of Specialized Gardens in Cairo, and the Venezuelan ambassador, M/G Wilmer Barrientos. During the meeting, both explored feasible mechanisms for the execution of joint projects in the short and medium term.
As the first result of this approach, an ambitious work plan was designed for the period 2026-2027. This schedule includes providing the main green spaces in the Egyptian capital for the commemoration of Venezuela's national anniversaries.
General Asaad highlighted the potential of these urban spaces as bridges of integration and expressed his admiration for the Latin American hero Simon Bolivar, whose statue occupies a prominent place in the center of Cairo. In this regard, the administration of Specialized Gardens committed itself to offering institutional logistical support for the beautification and regular maintenance of the historic monument.
For his part, Ambassador Wilmer Barrientos thanked the Cairo authorities for their receptivity and willingness to facilitate the dissemination of Venezuelan identity in the region.
The diplomat pointed out that this joint effort not only enriches the local cultural agenda, but also directly contributes to mutual knowledge and to the consolidation of the union between the peoples of the Global South.
