The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, held a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, to address the priorities on the bilateral agenda of both nations.

“On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we met with the Iranian minister to strengthen cooperation in promoting a more justly balanced and plural world, where there are no hegemonic threats that endanger global peace and security,” Gil said in a message posted on his Telegram channel.

This meeting was held parallel to the agenda of the 79th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

Relations between Venezuela and Iran were established on August 9, 1950 and reached a new level of cooperation in 1999 with the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution. They currently have agreements in the fields of energy, health, education, technology, transportation, agriculture, housing, defense and food, among others.
