Venezuela and Japan reaffirm diplomatic and cultural relations

The Deputy Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Tatiana Pugh, held a meeting with the Japanese ambassador to the country, Sato Yasushi, with whom she reaffirmed ties of friendship and cooperation.
According to information from Venezolana de Televisión, during the meeting held at the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre, in Caracas, diplomatic representatives addressed various issues and evaluated the opportunity to increase cooperation between the two nations, mainly in the cultural area.
Deputy Minister Pugh highlighted the peaceful and democratic character of the Venezuelan people, following the popular victory of President Nicolás Maduro Moros, in the elections held on July 28.
For his part, the Japanese diplomat highlighted the approach that Caracas and Tokyo have had in recent years through culture, through workshops, concerts, art and film exhibitions, among others.
Venezuela and Japan established diplomatic relations in 1938, but broke ties in 1941 as a result of World War II. Both nations re-established ties in 1951. Since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, collaboration has increased.
