The Deputy Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Tatiana Pugh, and the ambassador of Pakistan in Venezuela, concurring from Brazil, Ahmad Hussain Dayo, expressed this Friday their willingness to join and deepen efforts in the multilateral sphere on issues of sensitivity and common interest, such as human rights and climate change.

From the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre in Caracas, the Venezuelan diplomat, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government, led by President Nicolás Maduro, expressed the country's willingness to approach the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and be admitted as an observer member of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Along these lines, Pugh invited Pakistan to join the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations (UN) that was officially launched in New York, United States, on July 6, 2021 in order to strengthen the power of multilateralism for the global resolution of specific problems or situations.

During the meeting, the parties also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening alliances through two proposals sent from Caracas to Islamabad on July 31, 2023: The Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of Political Consultations and the Visa Waiver Agreement for Diplomatic, Service and Official Passports.

Likewise, they once again ratified their willingness to review and accept the agreements they deem appropriate, terminating for this purpose the pending issues in order to advance in a satisfactory manner in brotherhood relations.

Pugh took the opportunity to reject the extraterritorial financial sanctions imposed by the United States and its international allies against the nation; a fact that has not prevented the Venezuelan Government from paving the way to political, economic and social independence by promoting a new world order, marked by Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace.

In addition, he congratulated Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari for their election as Prime Minister and President of Pakistan respectively, being elected by the Pakistani National Assembly in the general elections of February 8.
