Venezuela and Qatar reinforce ties of solidarity in the face of recent events in both countries

The Minister of People's Power for Relations and Foreign Trade, Félix Plasencia, transmitted an official message of condolences and thanks to the authorities of the State of Qatar, within the framework of the close friendship between the two nations.

Through a post on his Instagram account, the diplomat reported that, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and Government, he issued his sincerest condolences to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, following the recent death of the Emir Father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

In that regard, he recognized the trajectory of the former Qatari president, whom he described as “an exceptional leader and great friend of Venezuela.”

In the same way, he expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Qatar for the immediate humanitarian aid sent to Venezuela, following the double earthquake of last June 24. Qatari assistance consisted of

the deployment of personnel, rescue teams and doctors, in addition to the actions taken by the Bolivarian Government to care for the thousands of families affected by a natural disaster.

Minister Plasencia arrived in Doha the day before, accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Andrea Corao, and was received by representatives of the Qatari Government and the Venezuelan ambassador to this Arab nation, Carlos José Mata Figueroa.
