With the objective of reviewing and consolidating cultural cooperation between Venezuela and Russia, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, held a meeting this Thursday with his Russian counterpart, Olga Lubímova, regarding her participation in the Forum of United Cultures held in St. Petersburg.
During the meeting, both authorities made a positive assessment of the cultural exchange between Russia and Venezuela, highlighting the achievements achieved. In addition, they reaffirmed their commitment to redouble efforts to strengthen this area, especially in the cinematographic field and in other expressions of art and culture.
Villegas took the opportunity to express his recognition of the heroic history of Saint Petersburg, referring to the city's resistance during the siege of Leningrad in World War II, when it endured a 29-month blockade marked by famine and constant bombing.
“That heroic resistance inspires us in our own resistance. One of the things that allowed this people to resist was their cultural identity, and that's what we're doing in Venezuela, in our times and in our realities,” he said.
In addition, the Venezuelan authority extended its invitation to Russia to be the guest country of honor at the Venezuela International Book Fair (FILVEN).
For her part, the Russian minister explained that both countries have a great cultural heritage, which facilitates the establishment and development of multiple artistic and cultural cooperation initiatives.
The Forum of United Cultures in St. Petersburg has established itself as a space for international dialogue and cooperation in cultural matters. Venezuela's participation in this event reaffirms its commitment to cultural exchange, the defense of identity and the promotion of diversity.
