Venezuela and Rwanda express interest in expanding relations to achieve joint achievements

From New York, on the occasion of the 80th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), the Foreign Ministers of Venezuela and Rwanda, Yván Gil and Olivier Nduhungirehe, respectively, held a productive meeting, in which they reaffirmed the common values of unity, cooperation, solidarity and peace that their countries share.
In a post on his Telegram channel, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister noted that “we also express our interest in strengthening and expanding bilateral relations to achieve joint achievements in the future.”
In August 2024, the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, received Credential Letters from the Venezuelan ambassador, Fátima Fernandes, concurrent from Uganda.
Foreign Minister Gil visited Kigali in October-November 2023, as part of a diplomatic tour of Africa, and signed an agreement to abolish visas for official, service and diplomatic passports.
Venezuela and Rwanda established diplomatic relations on August 18, 1981, which deepened starting in 2010 with the signing of the Framework Cooperation Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of a Political Consultation Mechanism.
