As part of the cultural rapprochement activities between Venezuela and Senegal, Ambassador Regzeida González Herrera held a meeting with King Maad a Sinig Niokhobaye Diouf Fatou Diene, head of the Sine Cell delegation, accompanied by several colleagues, including Mamadou Mignane Diouf, professor and coordinator of the Senegalese Social Forum.

This official meeting, under the slogan "When the Kingdom of Sine meets Venezuela: Senegalese traditions, Latin American cultures and Afro-descendants in dialogue for a cultural diplomacy of peoples “, highlighted the importance of intercultural dialogue, as well as bilateral cooperation between Senegal and Venezuela.

During the meeting, Ambassador González recalled the deep and unbreakable ties between Latin America and Mother Africa, highlighting their shared history; in particular, through ethnic and cultural miscegenation in Latin America, the result of the historic presence of African populations on the continent. He emphasized the pride of the Venezuelan people in embodying this heritage today, also represented by the Afro-Caribbean community.

King Maad a Sinig Niokhobaye Diouf Fatou Diene emphasized that, within the framework of the Sine Cell's missions in the field of social cohesion, strengthening cultural ties between Senegal and Venezuela is of paramount importance. According to him, it is not only a matter of consolidating friendship between the two nations, but also of allowing the younger generations of Senegalese and Afro-Caribbean people to better understand their common history, their roots and their shared values: these, he said, constitute an essential basis for the promotion of peace and prosperity.

In addition, the king - through statements to the national press - issued a statement of support for Venezuela, expressing his solidarity with the Venezuelan people and government in the face of imperialist threats from the United States.

The king or Maad a Sinig, in the Serer language, Niokhobaye Diouf Fatou Diene, comes from the Serer dynasty, belonging to the Serer people, the third largest ethnic group in Senegal, after the Wolofs and the Fulani.
