The foreign ministers of Venezuela and Suriname, Yván Gil and Albert Ramdin, respectively, met this Friday at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN), in New York, where the 79th session of the General Assembly is taking place, and they talked about strengthening the unity that characterizes bilateral relations.
In addition, the diplomats analyzed “the opportunities for bilateral cooperation within the framework of the UN, the organization that brings us together in this multilateral space,” the Venezuelan Foreign Minister highlighted on his Telegram channel.
In July of last year, Minister Ramdin visited Caracas to follow up on the binational agenda, which included boosting cooperation in the agricultural and fishing areas, as well as air connectivity.
Venezuela and Suriname maintain cooperation agreements in the political, financial, agricultural, energy, educational, tourist and cultural areas, the latter two promoted through the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation (IVCC), attached to the Embassy in Paramaribo.
In May of this year, Foreign Ministers Gil and Ramdin held a meeting in the Surinamese capital, where the meeting of the Association of Caribbean States (AEC) took place, with the objective of strengthening ties of friendship and reviewing agreements on economic, agricultural and tourism development.
