Minister Coromoto Godoy, together with the Deputy Minister of Export Promotion, Johann Álvarez, announced the participation of Venezuela as an honorary guest producer at the first edition of the ShowColat Festival from May 1 to 3 in the city of Bordeaux, France.
During her visit to the Cakawa chocolate factory, a company with more than 400 years of commercial tradition, Venezuelan cacao is recognized around the world for its wide range of aromas and genetic quality, so the owner of the Foreign Trade portfolio projects an extraordinary participation in that international chocolate fair “Bean to Bar” (from bean to bar).
Minister Godoy announced the launch from Venexporta of a program to facilitate and promote exports of cocoa and chocolate.
“The Bolivarian Government is committed to giving a special impetus to this sector and adding value to cocoa production. Together we are going to increase the production and export volumes of this wonderful product with deep roots in the history of our land,” said the president of Venexporta.
Ambassador Félix Plasencia, the president of the Venezuelan Socialist Cocoa Corporation, Keila Martorelli, and the general director of the Autonomous Intellectual Property Service (SAPI), Hendrick Perdomo, also participated in this visit.
Godoy said that this internationally valued sector also exports, to share with the world, the national identity, the history of Venezuela and the families that cultivate it, so he recognized the need to promote cocoa as a superfood capable of regenerating stem cells, “it's good for our physical and emotional health.”
The small company Cakawa, created a decade ago, has a production capacity of eight tons of high-end chocolate per year, thanks to alliances with producers from all over the country, so its productive chain is generated from the field to the chocolate bar.
Over this time, this chocolate shop, run by women, has produced chocolate collections with more than 14 municipalities that produce Venezuelan cacao, which highlight the traceability and history of the cocoa bean and the families that produce it.
