The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs,
Yván Gil, met this Friday with his counterparts from Barbados, Kerrie
Symmonds, and from the Bahamas, Frederick Mitchell, to “analyze the delicate
situation in Latin America and the Caribbean in the face of the interventionism of the
United States (USA), which has escalated to a military threat to our peoples”.
From Barbados, the Venezuelan diplomat transmitted President Nicolás Maduro's
message, “promoting unity and the defense of
our sovereignty, reaffirming our status as a Zone of Peace since 2014 and
Denuclearization since 1967,” he said in a post on his Telegram channel.
At the meeting with their peers from the two Caribbean countries, they
also emphasized the responsibility of the United Nations to demand the cessation
of hostilities and respect for the UN Charter.
On his two-day tour of the Caribbean, the
Venezuelan Foreign Minister met the day before with the prime ministers of Antigua and
Barbuda, Gaston Browne; Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, and Saint Vincent and the
Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, in their respective countries and accompanied by
Deputy Minister Raúl Li Causi, warning about the threats of U.S. military escalation in the region, which threatens peace and security.
