Venezuela closed its participation in the II Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 with 89 medals

The Venezuelan delegation participated in the II Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 with a positive balance of 89 medals, to take fifth place in the medal table with 25 gold medals, 39 silver and 25 bronze medals.

Brazil won the title in Valledupar (110-86-52), followed by Colombia (75-58-65) and Argentina completed the podium (41-51-40).

With the 89 medals won, the Criollos surpassed by ten medals the total of those won in the first edition of the Para-South American Games in Santiago de Chile 2014, in which they reached 79.

On the closing day, the Criollos won 3 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals.

Athletics returned to the protagonist on the last day with two titles for Venezuela with Abraham Ortega in the shot of the F46 bullet when he registered a mark of 13.54 meters, while Patricia Rodríguez threw the F46 javelin with 38.92 meters, beating the Paralympic champion of Paris 2024, compatriot Naibys Morillo, who escorted her with 35.94 meters.

The silver medals also came from athletics thanks to Jackson Blanco in the F55 bullet pulse with 10.75 meters; Juan Valladares in the 1,500 T54 with a time of 3:21.14; Kennedy Mendoza in the F46 bullet pulse with 11.71 meters; Luis Paiva in the 1,500 T20 with 4:14.49; and Paola García in the T46 long jump with a record of 5.75.

In addition, the Venezuelan mixed universal relay team, made up of Enderson Santos together with his guide Eubrig Maza, Lisbely Vera, Yescarly Medina and Juan Valladares, closed a brilliant performance by winning the silver medal with a time of 51.37, surpassed by Argentina with 51.14.

In the goal shooting, Edixon Parada and Nelson Rodríguez captured the third gold of the day in the 50-meter composite doubles category with 144 points. In addition, Parada won a bronze medal in the 50-meter individual event, after registering 138 points.

Another bronze medal came thanks to the parabádminton, where Kleiber Mijares finished third in the US5 class after competing in the round-robin system, culminating in three victories and one loss, a result that generated a triple tie for first place with representatives from Brazil and Peru. However, the final classification was decided by average, giving Mijares the bronze medal.

In paranatation, Cristhian Requena won the silver medal in the 200 meters combined SM10 with a time of 2:34.10, while Antonio Henríquez won two bronze medals when he finished third in the 150 combined SM4 with 3:21.34 and in the 50 back S4 with 56.21 seconds.

For her part, Viviana Moraes completed her Venezuelan performance in the pool by winning the silver medal in the 200 combined SM14, thanks to a record of 3:01.56.
