Venezuela congratulates the People and Government of the Bahamas after successful election day (+statement)

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela congratulated the People and Government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas on Wednesday for holding the general elections of 2026.

In an official statement, released by Foreign Minister Yván Gil, they say that it was “an exemplary day that reaffirms its solid commitment (of the Government) to popular will, institutional stability and democratic exercise in the region”.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its sincerest congratulations to the People and Government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas for the holding of the general elections of 2026, on an exemplary day that reaffirms its solid commitment to popular will, institutional stability and democratic exercise in the region.

We also extend our recognition to the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) and its leader, Prime Minister Philip Davis, for their electoral victory, valuing the renewed support of citizens for their administration and the leadership demonstrated in leading their nation to a future of prosperity.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela reaffirms its firm will to continue strengthening the historic ties of friendship and bilateral cooperation with the Bahamas. We reiterate our commitment to working together on initiatives of mutual benefit, under the principles of Caribbean solidarity, respect for self-determination and the tireless search for the integral development of our peoples.
