The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, ratified this Friday the solidarity of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with the Republic of Cuba, demanding that the government of the United States (USA) remove the Antillean nation, immediately, “from the infamous list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism.”

Through his account on the social network X, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister pointed out that this is a demand of “the vast majority of the international community”, since the inclusion of Cuba in the list is a pretext of North American imperialism for the application of unilateral coercive measures against the Island.

“Our solidarity with the Cuban government and people, who have not only been victims of international terrorism, but are also attacked through the application of criminal measures and an unjust and illegal economic blockade,” Gil criticized.

The Venezuelan diplomat's statements come after the Administration of U.S. President Joe Biden recognized that Cuba “fully collaborates” with the fight against terrorism.

The U.S. State Department noted that “the circumstances for the certification of Cuba as a country that 'does not fully cooperate' with counterterrorism efforts (NFCC) changed from 2022 to 2023.”

In this regard, the foreign minister of the Caribbean nation, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, stressed that “it is not enough to recognize that Cuba fully cooperates with U.S. counterterrorism efforts,” so “all political manipulation of the issue should cease and put an end to our arbitrary and unjust inclusion in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.”
