The vice-president of the Defense and Sovereignty Sector, Vladimir Padrino López, denounced this Monday a new disinformation campaign by the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, following the publication of an official statement accusing Venezuela of alleged attacks against Guyanese forces on the top of the Cuyuní River.

“We read with concern a new statement from Guyana, which adds to a series of unfounded allegations that seek to build a false scenario of conflict in the border area,” he said, while stressing that “yesterday we warned about the risks of false positives and false news promoted by transnational mafias, with the objective of opening a war front in that region.”

Padrino López also questioned the role of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, accusing it of adhering to the imperialist narrative promoted by Washington.

“We deeply regret the sterile and vassal pronouncement of these governments, which lend themselves to reproducing lies written outside their borders, betraying the dignity of their peoples,” he said.

He recalled historical precedents that demonstrate the strategic use of the territory of Trinidad for operations against Venezuela, citing references to leaders such as Napoleon Bonaparte and British documents from the 19th century.

Padrino López appealed to national conscience and reaffirmed the commitment of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to the defense of sovereignty.

“We continue to fight with serenity, prudence and conscience. We are ready to defend our homeland from any terrain. There is enough people and patriotic force to do so,” he concluded.
