The Permanent Delegation of Venezuela to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) proudly received the file “THE HALLACA: The Culinary, Festive and Identity Universe of Christmas in Venezuela”, an expression that represents cultural identity and local collective work.
The document was prepared with the support of the Center for Cultural Diversity and the Ministry for Culture, as part of the process of nominating hallaca as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
In a post on its social networks, the Venezuelan representation described it as an honor and a privilege to receive the file, which will make it possible to promote the initiative of the Bolivarian nation before the international body.
The delegation also noted that “hallaca represents much more than a dish: it is the historical synthesis of what we are, a fusion of native, Afro-descendant and European cultures, and constitutes one of the most profound symbols of Venezuelan identity.” In addition, remember that its preparation takes place every December and promotes reunion between families.
