The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has registered five destinations of high heritage value in the 2026 edition of the Best Tourism Villages program, promoted by UN Tourism, an initiative aimed at promoting and valuing the protection of rural villages, their landscapes, biological diversity, local traditions and gastronomy.
In this regard, the Ministry of Popular Power for Tourism proposed five towns that reflect the country's biological and cultural megadiversity, led by Gran Roque, a destination that is committed to a controlled tourism model to protect its fragile island ecosystem.
The list is followed by Choroní, which has a combination of mountainous jungle, well-preserved colonial architecture and the Caribbean Sea, while Canaima is a candidate for being an example of harmonious coexistence between the Pemón indigenous community and tourist activity.
Galipán joins the list for its panoramic views of the coast of La Guaira and the Venezuelan capital, in addition to its incipient agro-tourism activity, and, finally, it applied to Chuao to produce one of the most sought-after, exclusive and awarded fine-smelling cacaos in the international market for the premium chocolate industry, and it also offers visitors a unique experience that combines community tourism, agritourism and culture.
