The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela participated as an international observer in the constitutional referendum held on March 15 in the Republic of Kazakhstan, a process in which citizens were invited to pronounce themselves on a new Magna Carta aimed at updating the institutional system of the Central Asian country. During the day, accredited diplomatic representatives visited voting centers in the city of Astana, where the process took place normally and with broad citizen participation. Venezuela was represented by its accredited ambassador to the government of Kazakhstan, Rosalba Lo Bue Antico. The national consultation contemplates significant reforms in the institutional architecture of the State, including the creation of the office of vice-president of the Republic and the transformation of the Parliament into a unicameral body, measures aimed at reorganizing the functioning of the nation's political and legislative system. The presence of international observers helped to accompany this exercise of citizen participation, which is part of the internal institutional processes of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in which the creation of the office of Vice President of the Republic and the restructuring of the national Parliament, which now becomes unicameral, preserving the 99 seats, stand out.
