The ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Plurinational State of Bolivia, César Trómpido, participated in a meeting with ambassadors and international organizations led by the president of the Andean country, Luis Arce Catacora, with the objective of managing actions and foreign cooperation to face the emergency resulting from forest fires affecting various areas of this nation.

President Arce assured that “the situation that the country is going through deserves greater cooperation and effort on the part of each of us, because this type of phenomenon no longer corresponds only to the struggle of a single country.”

For his part, Ambassador Trómpia stressed that, “on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro Moros, we have expressed Venezuela's support for Bolivia at this time of fighting for our mother earth and jointly putting out the forest fires that affect the Bolivian people.”

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Bolivian Foreign Ministry, following the recent Declaration of National Disaster by Supreme Decree 5235, which establishes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Planning and Development will be responsible for channeling foreign aid to deal with forest fires.

The above-mentioned entities will work in coordination with other institutions to ensure an effective response to the emergency that mainly affects the east of the Andean country.

The Minister of the Presidency, María Nela Prada, mentioned that the Bolivian Government has been working for more than 120 days to put out the fires, counting on the technical and logistical cooperation of friendly countries such as Venezuela.

Recently, the Venezuelan Government sent 61 fighters from the “Simon Bolivar” Humanitarian Task Force, with the purpose of cooperating in the fight against forest fires affecting the South American nation.
