Venezuela present at the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa

A delegation from Venezuela, led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Africa, Yuri Pimentel, participated as a guest in the 10th edition of the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa, organized by the Presidency of the Republic of Senegal, from April 20 to 22. Under the slogan “Africa facing the challenges of stability, integration and sovereignty: durable solutions”, the forum included two days of discussions with preliminary conclusions on the importance of strengthening mechanisms to maintain peace, protect sovereignty and democracy in the region, through greater solidarity, cooperation and respect among all peoples, among other actions. The event allowed the national delegation to hold a series of bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of Niger, Bakary Yaou Sangaré; of the Gambia, Sering Modou Njie; of Mali, Abdoulaye Diop, and of Guinea, Morissanda Kouyaté. In addition, Deputy Minister Pimentel was received in hearings by senior Senegalese government authorities: Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko; Chancellor Cheickh NIANG; Minister of Armed Forces, Birame DIOP; Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, Birame S. DIOP and the President of the National Assembly, Deputy El Malick Ndiaye. In addition, he visited the African Renaissance Monument, where he was greeted by director Birame Diouf and the Secretary of State for Culture, Bacary Sarr, who showed him the cultural exhibitions of African countries. The Venezuelan delegation also participated in a meeting with members of social movements, civil society, pan-Africanist groups and political parties, among others, in which members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Senegal were present. At each of the meetings, Deputy Minister Yuri Pimentel transmitted the message of the President in Charge Delcy Rodríguez and Foreign Minister Yván Gil to deepen the bonds of friendship, cooperation and solidarity between Venezuela and Senegal.
