Venezuela promotes international recognition of the State of Palestine

On behalf of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations, Joaquín Pérez, Alternate Permanent Representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), presented the plenary entitled “The Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution”.

In this regard, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, in his Telegram account, noted that during the High-Level International Conference sponsored by the UN, he highlighted “the firm position of our countries in favor of international recognition of the State of Palestine, with the borders before 1967 and East Jerusalem as its capital”.

“In addition, it has emphasized the need to adopt concrete actions to put an end to colonization, occupation and systematic violence against the Palestinian people, with the objective of guaranteeing peace through justice,” he emphasized.

Gil also assures that “to achieve this, it is essential to demand that the United States cease its complicity with Israel, which is manifested in the use of the veto at UN bodies and in the direct supply of weapons and economic resources that perpetuate the illegal occupation of Palestine.”
