Venezuela reaches third place in the Pan-American Karate-Do Championship

The Venezuelan karate team achieved an outstanding performance in the Pan-American Karate-Do Championship in Asunción, Paraguay, achieving third place in the general classification . The Venezuelan delegation, which competed in the cadet, junior, under-12 and under-14 categories, won a total of 25 medals: five gold, six silver and 14 bronze.

Venezuelan athletes won the honors in five categories, and demonstrated their dominance in kumite (combat), including: Isabella Gutiérrez (+61 kg) and Luis Ruz (-70 kg), who were crowned champions in the cadet category; Román Guainá (-55 kg) was established in the junior category and in the under-12 category, Andrés Pacheco (-45 kg) and Emilio Montana (-55 kg) also reached the highest position on the podium.

In the kata (forms) modality, Andrea Moros and Enzo Quintana won the silver medal in the cadet category. In the kumite, Venezuelans won important medals. In silver Osffell Tesorero (-76 kg), Danna Puerta (-37 kg), Matías Sánchez (-50 kg) and Diego Rolo (+55 kg) and in bronze Sofía Rivero (-61 kg), Aarón Gascón (-63 kg), José Colmenares (+70 kg), Katherine Toro (-48 kg), Javierlys Hernández (-59 kg), Sebastián Márquez (-68 kg), Miranda Rivas (-42 kg), Armando Herrera (-35 kg), Derek Marquina (45 kg) and Ángel Yajure (-55 kg).
